Today’s Lighting Recall: BMW

BMW will repair about 134,100 of its 5-Series and M5 cars for a problem with their rear lighting.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and itsrecall Web site, the cars affected were 2008-2010 models, built between March 1, 2007, and December 31, 2009.

The recall includes some 528i, 535i, 550i, and M5 vehicles.

In the affected vehicles, the electrical system’s ground terminal and housings for the rear lighting can be damaged with age, which could lead to a loss of taillights, turn signals, reverse and brake lights. To remedy the situation, BMW will fit new rear lamp bulb carriers.
