Western Region Business Development Manager–TCP

Title: Western Region Business Development Manager

Reports to:  Director, Business Development.

Exemption Status: Exempt

Summary

The Business Development Executive will by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships. Creates brand awareness with company and products. Builds a strong pipeline of new customers. Works closely with inside account manager to manage accounts as well as creative and marketing team to implement and leverage strategies.

Essential Duties

  • Actively support the company’s culture and business mission by always putting TCP’s people and its customers first.
  • Identifies trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements; tracking verticals markets in regards to LED lighting, new construction and retro-fitting.
  • Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting end-users in vertical markets; discovering and exploring opportunities for new business, whether in application expansion or new client business and partnerships.
  • Evaluates potential business deals by analyzing market data, deal requirements (new product development), potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; recommending product development for new applications.
  • Develops negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new venture with company strategies and operations; examining risks and potentials; estimating partners’ needs and goals.
  • Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; qualifying, applying application and product integration, developing lighting metric study, negotiating installation/mock-up and securing specification for products with business operations.
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Other responsibilities or projects assigned by manager. 

Experience/Requirements

  • 5 + years of consumer product sales in industrial and/or retail environments.
  • Ability to influence and build strong relationships with partner
  • Knowledge of  lighting industry preferred. Sales and Marketing experience with large chain or big box retailers desired.   
  • Experience with JDA space management system or equivalent. 
  • Proficient in MS Office, and data base analysis. 
  • Travel on a regular basis required to build relationships with customers.
  • ERP experience with JD Edwards, SAP or equivalent is preferred.

  • Ability to lead cross functional teams to resolve issues and/or improve customer relations.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to provide strategic input to the corporate and customer planning process.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems. 

Education / Training

  • Bachelor degree in a Business Discipline preferred.

Physical/Environmental

  • Sitting for long periods of time, completing tasks using a computer and other office equipment.
  • Position requires frequent talking, listening, viewing computer screen, occasional standing, walking and reaching.
  • May require lifting up 10 to 25 lbs.
  • Job position responsibilities are generally performed in a business office environment with computers, printers and phones.
  • Ability to travel via automobile and/or airplane, as necessary to successfully perform role.
