Technical Marketing Manager—Inventronics

Full-Time in Oklahoma City

Inventronics seeks a Technical Marketing Manager for Intelligent Products to define “smart” features for LED drivers, define and promote controllers, programmers & other intelligent non-driver products, define graphical user interfaces, and work with lighting control-system makers to ensure Inventronics drivers are compatible.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy for intelligent products

–      Keep informed of market trends & the competitive landscape

–      Formulate an intelligent-product strategy & set priorities

–      Maintain relevant product roadmaps; propose additions

–      Propose technology development projects when needed capabilities lie outside R&D design expertise

  • Compatibility with lighting control systems:  From a system-level view, propose how Inventronics drivers should fit into selected control systems to provide value to customers at a competitive cost

◦       Which drivers to integrate

◦       Details of control interfaces

◦       Define interoperability testing

◦       Design system demos for trade shows

–      Example systems:  DALI, DMX, EnOcean, ZigBee

–      Identify exiting control products that work with Inventronics drivers

–      Propose which interface components to make vs. procure (private label or co-market with partners); propose partnerships

–      Create examples of cost-effective lighting systems for different sizes of controlled space, e.g. fixture, room, office, floor, building

  • Product development
    • Review & advise on intelligent features of all proposed drivers to ensure consistency with Inventronics strategy, other company products, & market needs. 

–      Present options for different levels of controls integration with Inventronics drivers

  • Propose new development projects (internal or external) based on strategy, market intelligence & customer requests:

–      “Intelligent” daughter cards & circuits for inclusion in drivers

–      Non-driver intelligent products, e.g. controller modules, programmers

–      Software “products,” e.g. programmer GUIs

Proposals should include a justification (reason for making the product), specification, competitive analysis, & (from R&D estimates) BOM cost & development schedule.

  • Monitor the progress of development projects.  Assist with making design choices.  Reassess viability if cost or performance targets are missed.  Ensure compatibility with Inventronics drivers.
  • Driver programming

–      Ensure Inventronics programming software is easy to use & professional looking; perform acceptance testing

–      Programming methods:  Propose processes & fixtures to enable convenient programming of intelligent products in the factory, warehouse & field, including later field replacements

–      Establish/evolve a “configuration database” & process to record what software is loaded into each driver by s/n

◦       Firmware & configuration loaded by Inventronics, distributors

◦       Configurations programmed by customers

–      Monitor software development to ensure it’s aligned to support the product roadmap.

  • Product marketing: 

–      Prepare marketing collateral: datasheets, sales tools, slides, photos, press releases

–      Prepare brochures & product-concept slides when appropriate

–      Prepare & conduct sales training on intelligent products

  • Based in the Oklahoma City office with up to 40% travel, including 1-3 visits per year to the main office in Hangzhou, China

Qualifications

  • Education:  B.S., B.Eng. or B.SC. in electrical engineering
  • Power electronics & technical marketing experience preferred
  • Familiarity with lighting control systems a plus
  • Very good communication & interpersonal skills.  If English is a second language, minimum TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6.0.
