Last week’s announcement of Legrand’s acquisition of Original Cast Lighting, Inc. (OCL) signals the beginning of two fundamental shifts that we are expecting for 2017: Acquisitions and Price Increases.
EdisonReport has learned of discussion of a few other deals; one late-stage and a few-early stage discussions. Like the Legrand deal, we expect more large non-US conglomerates to buy US based luminare manufacturers. In addition, we believe that in 2017, the industry will finally begin to see price increases. Unlike price increases during the legacy lighting days, these will be driven by BigChina LED.
