Acuity Issues Temporary “Stop Sale” of Some Control Systems Products

EdisonReport has learned that on 6 OCT, Acuity Brands issued a stop sale of the following nLight® products: NPP16 and NPP20 families. According to the Acuity website, nLight® is a networked digital lighting control system that provides both energy savings and increased user configurability by cost effectively integrating time-based, daylight-based, sensor-based and manual lighting control schemes. nLight creates an unmatched level of distributed intelligence.

A spokesman for the company told the EdisonReport that this action was taken as a precautionary measure as they investigated a potential manufacturing issue. After internal testing, and third party lab validation, Acuity concluded that current product is being produced per manufacturer and vendor specifications.  As of Friday, 13 OCT, they resumed production and shipments.

On  4 OCT, Vern Nagel held a conference call with investors and stated the following:  “…I’m expecting that we will have improvements in our overall product quality that will help us drive improvements in our margin there as well.”
