Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer (Lighting Experience)

We currently have an opportunity available for a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer (Lighting Experience).
As a member of Kenall’s product design and development engineering team, this individual will be responsible for the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and develop fixtures for existing product lines
- Create drawings for production release ensuring designs pass all requirements
- Develop specifications sheets
- Modify existing products per customer requirements or based on continuous improvement
- Log requests using Workfront project management system
- Work with testing and compliance team to develop product samples
- Mentor junior design engineers
- Lead engineering design reviews
- Key interface with product development, quality and operations staff
QUALIFCATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree, Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred
- 6+ years practical experience in product design and development in the Lighting industry
- Proficient using 3D CAD solid modeling software; SolidWorks and Inventor
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes including injection molding, die-casting, extrusion and thermoforming
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication as well as polycarbonate, acrylic and aluminum
- Able to design/build prototypes
- In addition to excellent engineering design skills, demonstrated top grade aesthetic capabilities desired
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Resourceful, highly organized while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy; Highly dependable, self-motivated and directed
- Professional in appearance and attitude and able to work with customers, vendors and colleagues on all levels
- Flexible, able to work within a team environment; managing multiple projects and tasks at the same time
