The Quotations Manager oversees and leads day-to-day operations of the quotations department. He/she leads a team who develop proposals that result in profitable sales revenue. Primary responsibilities include increased conversion rates, profitability and the streamlining of procedures to meet customer demand. He/ she is responsible for the team’s output; researching plan sets and conducting counts, requesting pricing and information from vendors, determining margins, providing VE and design-assist options, reviewing for technical completeness, and collaborating with customers. A successful manager will have lighting acumen, strong communication skills, time management and effective leadership skills.
Essential Functions
- Increases the volume of awarded projects, profit margins and level of customer satisfaction
- Oversight of quotations operation; manages and reports on productivity of the quotations dept
- Ensures all materials are priced timely, completely and accurately and with appropriate mark-up
- Reviews customer proposals to ensure accuracy, completeness and code compliance of specification
- Researches specification and VE options
- Maintains high levels of communication with customers regarding status of proposals
- Follows-up with sales and customers to ensure that the proposal meets expectations
- Determines departmental priorities, policies and processes
- Analyzes bid requirements to identify product options
- Maintains vendor relationships
- Reviews pricing from suppliers, ensures that it is competitive and inclusive of required components
- Manages employee performance, training, time off…
- Serves as a mentor, leader, and point of contact for the quotations process
- Covers for team members as needed
Qualifications
Minimum 3-years’ experience managing a team in a similar role involving lighting proposal generation and customer interaction
· Ability to quickly and accurately perform math calculations used in proposal process (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages)
· Ability to read and interpret electrical plans sets and RCP
· Technical knowledge of lighting installations, construction and building codes
· High detail orientation; must be able to proof own work and work of others
· Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
· Uses customer service and communication skills to solve problems of moderate complexity
· Direct customer interaction via email, phone call or face-to-face meeting
· Self-directed, independent, responsible for decision-making with financial ramifications
