Back to New York

EdisonReport has learned that LightFair will be returning to New York in 2021—and we are thrilled! We can also confirm that LightFair Management has signed a contract (for odd years) for New York through 2029.

We spoke to Dan Darby, Show Manager, and Dan told your humble editor that LightFair would be part of Design Week, which brings 300,000 designers in all five boroughs during the week.

Dan explained that the 2015 New York LightFair was the best attended ever and he went on to say how New York City is much improved today as compared to 2015:

• Javits Center will have completed their upgrade by 2021
• Hudson Yards has opened with over 100 restaurants
• The #7 Subway to Javits is open and fully functional

Dan stated, “Getting there has never been easier and the neighborhood has never been better.”

EdisonReport has been a strong supporter of LightFair in New York. The major problems were transportation to Javits, which has been solved, and the cost of hotels. As of this writing, AirBnB is allowed to operate in New York City. We did a quick search for 11-13 May, 2020 (note the show returns to New York in 2021) and we found 300+ properties (entire place) for rent under $150 per night.

Happy Days are Here Again!
