Last night, the IESNYC put on a first class gala. Your humble editor estimates 800 to 900 people, and it was the most fun party I have been to in years! Really! Clara Powell and Adrienne Shulman did a tremendous job as co-chairs of the event. Megan Carrol, IESNYC president, gave a good speech. Early on, they did pause to recognize recently deceased members: Shelly Bellovin, Kyle Chepulis, James Kaloudis, Lana Lenar and Dave Lissak.
The event was long sold out, and the beachy-Hawaiian theme was well received, but we still saw several ties in the audience. Old habits die hard.
Recently retired Peter Jacobson received a Golden Achievement Award, as did Brad Telias and Brett Anderson. Shaun Fillion received the IES Section Meritorious Service Award.
The Lumen Gala featured beautiful people and beautiful lighting jobs. Our team was at the Lumen Gala in full force, and we are covering the story from various angles:
- Special Fashion Report–written by Lori Reid
- designing lighting (dl) magazine–The June issue has full coverage including video interviews with the winning lighting designers
- The Spec Newsletter–will feature an in-depth interview with the jurors on the details of the 2022 Lumen Awards
