The DesignLights Consortium (DLC) announced it has completed the transition to the newest version of its Solid-State Lighting (SSL) Technical Requirements (Version 5.1) – a policy designed to increase efficacy and improve quality of light and controllability of qualified fixtures and lamps. Any products that have not been updated to meet V5.1 requirements have been removed from the Qualified Products List (QPL). Under the SSL V5.1 requirements, almost all products are now dimmable and must report on integrated controls, which enable strategies to save additional energy. Since LED luminaires installed today may last for a decade or more, strengthening controllability requirements locks in potential energy and cost savings for years to come.
