Synapse Wireless Right Sizes

EdisonReport has learned that Synapse Wireless had a reduction in force (RIF) last week to right size their business.  Your humble editor spoke with George Myers, CEO, who explained, “The move will bring the overall business model in sync with the smart lighting industry.  We are pulling back on the development of a next generation enterprise industrial IoT platform, a joint project with our parent company, McWane.”

Synapse had staffed to build the comprehensive enterprise industrial IoT platform for manufacturers with multiple facilities leveraging its lighting network. Given the economic conditions and overall business climate, McWane decided to pull back from this initiative and concentrate on its core businesses of foundries and metal fabrication operations.

Synapse began developing their system in 2014 and they have the leading wireless network system in the US and beyond. George emphasized that Synapse is fully committed to continue supporting, selling, and evolving SimplySnap focusing on outdoor, industrial, and large commercial settings where advanced wireless controls and Synapse’s 50 patents provide the best independent wireless network lighting control solution on the market.

Synapse has a direct salesforce that works with a network of independent manufacturer’s representatives as well as 65 different lighting manufacturers. They remain fully committed to the lighting industry.
