LightFair 2023 featured a new spectacle for all in attendance – the inaugural Immersive Lighting Installations, all centered around the theme of the circular economy.  Architectural and commercial lighting manufacturers were invited to apply for the contest by submitting a vision statement.

They were then paired with a NYC-based lighting design firm, and the two worked together to “tell a story of partnership, collaboration, and possibilities around the theme of circular economy.” The installations were confined to 400 sq. ft. of space, utilizing no more than 1500W and one 6-outlet power strip.

LightfairThe results?  Seven diverse, wonderfully imaginative installations that played on the spectators’ senses and harkened back to circularity.  Congratulations to the winning installation, Seeds of Light, from Traxon e:cue and Tillotson Design Associates.

Ron Kurtz,  Paula Ziegenbein, and Monica Luz Lobo served as judges and all three said it was very difficult to choose because they were all winners.  After the judging, Paula explained to Randy Reid, “I have been to a lot of LightFair’s, but this is the funnest event I have ever participated in.”
