Position Overview: The Lighting Product Design Engineer at Elite Lighting plays a pivotal role in the research, development, and creation of lighting products that meet and exceed customer expectations. You will work in a collaborative team environment, utilizing your technical expertise, creativity, and problem-solving skills to bring new lighting solutions to life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conceptualization and Ideation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to brainstorm and conceptualize new lighting product ideas based on market trends, customer needs, and emerging technologies.
- Product Design and Development: Lead the design and development of lighting products from concept to prototype to production. This includes creating detailed 3D models, conducting feasibility studies, and selecting appropriate materials and components.
- Technical Analysis: Perform engineering calculations and simulations to evaluate the performance, efficiency, and safety of lighting products. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Prototyping: Build and test prototypes to validate design concepts, making necessary adjustments and improvements based on test results and user feedback.
- Cost Analysis: Work closely with the procurement team to optimize product cost without compromising quality, considering manufacturing processes and materials.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including industrial designers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing experts, to ensure seamless integration of design concepts into production.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
- Innovation: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor products to drive innovation in lighting product design.
- Quality Control: Implement quality control processes and participate in product testing and validation to ensure products meet or exceed quality standards.
- Project Management: Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, adhering to timelines and budgets, and providing regular project updates to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in lighting product design, including proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Strong understanding of optics, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with lighting standards and regulations (e.g., UL, DLC, ENERGY STAR).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a passion for innovation and quality.
- Previous experience with LED lighting technology is a plus.

Job Setting: Our company is in Commerce, we are local to the Commerce Casino, Citadel, a variety of eateries, and near many local freeway entrances. We offer parking to all employees in an enclosed and monitored parking structure. Our work schedule is Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, or from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
