Lance Bennett opened The IALD President’s Opening Reception by welcoming everyone.  For almost 20 years, Cooper Lighting Solutions has sponsored this event.  Lance introduced IALD President Monica Luz Lobo. Reflecting on the significance of the moment and the resilience of the community, she jubilantly declared, “We are here and we are alive and it’s time to celebrate.” Her sentiment captured the mood of the event, echoing the collective joy of the lighting design community.

Monica then invited the upcoming president, Andrea Hartranft to share her thoughts. Andrea remarked, “Monica throws a hell of a party and I get to invite you all to my party next year.” Expressing gratitude for the ongoing support, she thanked Lance and took a moment to acknowledge Cooper for their enduring partnership with the IALD.

Next up was Jill Cody, the secretary/treasurer of the IALD. She shifted the spotlight to the IALD Education Trust Fund. Stressing its importance, she underscored the necessity of fostering connections between students and the broader IALD Lighting Design community. “The next generation needs our support,” she urged.

In a bid to rally support for the trust, Jill encouraged the attendees to contribute, enticing them with glam lanyards and blue ribbons.
