The Light + Justice Symposium: Interior Spaces, scheduled for April 5, 2024, is a collaborative effort between the IES, Parsons School of Design, and Light Justice. It aims to shed light on the importance of quality indoor lighting, particularly for marginalized and vulnerable populations. Building on last year’s symposium, which focused on outdoor lighting and social equity, this event will delve into the neglect of indoor lighting in public spaces and its impact on occupant satisfaction, well-being, and productivity. Through panel discussions and case studies, experts will explore the challenges and benefits of addressing systemic inequities in indoor lighting design, with a focus on communities such as people of color, the aging, the impaired, and the incarcerated. The hybrid event will take place at The New School in New York City and online, offering attendees up to 4.5 hours of continuing education credits.
