Current Lighting Responds to Tariffs with March Price Increases
At LEDucation, your humble editor spoke with a Current manufacturer’s representative who shared news of the Current price increase.
Current prices were raised on 3 March in response to a 10% tariff the U.S. government implemented on February 4. This action followed China’s decision to impose tariffs of its own. Then, on 4 March, the U.S. announced an additional 10% tariff on imports from China. That new tariff took effect immediately.
As a result, Current will introduce a second price increase on 17 March. This adjustment will apply to select products affected by the latest tariff.
A Current company representative would not disclose the exact amount of the increase. However, he emphasized that Current works hard to minimize the impact on agents and customers. He also noted that many of their most popular products are made in the U.S., including at facilities in Hendersonville, Christiansburg, and Plympton.
