Position Summary
Under general direction from the Product Development Manager, this position is responsible for aiding the new product onboarding gate process through product lifecycle including inception, plotting, testing, QA, and delivery. The Product Analyst will work closely with Sales Managers and Rep Networks to develop the ‘VOC’ and reveal market trends to ensure new product roadmaps are relevant. In addition, this position will provide support to the Quotations team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert on systems and solutions (lighting + electronics + control + user experience), including DMX, Spektrum+, Dali2, Circadian/Wellness lighting integration, etc
- Aid sales presentations, technical questions, and control/integration/systems issues
- Work directly with customers to identify solutions issues, integration opportunities, and provide overall system design expertise
- Aid in product testing, documentation and troubleshooting for both new product development and technical support purposes
- Aid in market research for new product development and aid to sales teams
- Aid in creation and documentation of technical documents such as instruction manuals, technical guides, hands-on training devices & diagrams for our products and applications.
- Travel as needed for trade shows, technical support, and project pre-wires/startups as needed
- Troubleshoot and resolve field applications and issues, pertaining to product installation
- Project takeoff and control design support
- Support the on-going technical training for the staff on the technical nuances of our control systems, networked devices & luminaire products, and how to demonstrate and exploit our product differentiators
- Engage in competitor and partner technologies (e.g. IoT systems, API integrations, luminaire topologies, software developers, etc) to provide the most up to date and best solutions
- Patent research
- Some travel required, up to ~25%
Performance/Skills Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in lighting industry
- Experience with multiple DMX control platforms including: Cue Server, Contorl 4, Pharos, Nicolaudie, Madrix, Vantage by Legrand, JoshAi, etc
- Experience with Art-Net, sACN, WS2812, RDM, low voltage lighting, Pixel Mapping, Pixel Injection
- Ability to read lighting plans and fixture schedules
- Proficient in AGi32 and/or other lighting layout software
- Proficient in Bluebeam and/or other vector-based design/layout programs
- Comfortable with soldering and wiring
- Leadership skills & mentality
- The ability to exercise initiative, problem solving and decision-making skills utilizing innovation, creativity, and collaboration
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously to meet critical deadlines
- Project management from concept to execution
- Onsite commissioning experience with knowledge of electrical codes a plus
- Background in production or theater a plus
