Looking to stay on top of lighting industry events in September 2025? This month kicks off the industry’s second busy season, packed with important deadlines, awards, and conferences across the. Here’s what you need to know:
September 5 — DLC Comment Period
In late July, DesignLights Consortium released Draft 2 of the combined Solid State Lighting Version 6.0 (SSL V6.0) and LUNA V2.0 technical requirements.
The six-week public comment period runs through September 5. More information on the changes in Draft 2 and directions to submit comments can be found here.
September 15 — LEDucation 2026 Call for Speakers
The 2026 edition of LEDucation will be on 14-15 April at its familiar home, the New York Hilton Midtown. The show is seeking presentations on a comprehensive list of topics, ranging from sustainability to code compliance to emerging technologies.

September 15 — DLFNY Beacon Awards
After a successful inaugural show last October, the DLFNY’s Beacon Awards returns to Sony Hall in NYC. This year, new categories have been added “to better reflect the breadth of modern lighting design.”

Proceeds from the Awards help fund the Lenar Lighting Empowerment Scholarship, aimed at developing the next generation of lighting designers.
September 16–17 — ArchLIGHT Summit
ArchLIGHT Summit returns to Dallas Market Center on 16-17 September. The show will feature education sessions, exhibitor showcases, and hospitality events. September 19 — Light Middle East Awards Deadline
The twelfth edition of the Light Middle East Awards will take place on 14 January, 2026 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The theme for 2026 is “Vison to Impact: From Inspiring Ideas to Lasting Legacies.”

September 19 — IALD International Lighting Design Awards
The 43rd Annual IALD International Lighting Design Awards will take place in Frankfurt, Germany on 10 March, 2026.
The standard submission period has closed, but the late submission period is open until September 19. More information can be found on the IALD Awards page.
September 21–24 — IES Street & Area Lighting Conference (SALC)
With a “primary focus on improving outdoor lighting,” the IES Street & Area Lighting Conference is one of the industry’s premier events.
This year’s SALC takes place 21-24 September at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Downtown. Registration is still open. Full conference details can be found here.
September 22–24 — NAILD Convention
Packed with educational and networking opportunities, the National Association of Innovative Lighting Distributors’ 2025 Convention takes place 22-24 September in St. Paul, Minnesota. Learn more.
September 24 — Casambi Awards
The Casambi Awards is back for 2025, spotlighting “the most creative and innovative uses of Casambi’s lighting tech – whether it’s a smart product or a standout project.” Entries for the Awards are now open. The submission deadline is 24 September. Submit here.
