About the Role
This role oversees product management and marketing for the U.S. Lighting portfolio, including Birchwood, ConTech, Intense, V‑Rail, and Leviton Lighting. Responsibilities include strategic planning, product development, pricing, launches, sales support, and marketing. The position focuses on driving profitability through lifecycle management, identifying new opportunities, and bringing new products to market. It requires staying current on industry trends, technology, and competitive activity, and working closely with Sales and Customers. The role reports to the Sr. Director & General Manager, U.S. Lighting Business, in Northbrook, IL.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the annual strategic plan and deliver key initiatives to drive sales and profitability.
- Communicate product strategy to Product Management and Marketing for alignment and execution.
- Serve as the liaison with Engineering, Sourcing, Operations, Customer Service, Sales, and Finance.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Product Management, and Supply Chain to optimize product profitability.
- Improve the New Product Process with Engineering and cross‑functional teams.
- Manage the product portfolio to align with market trends and opportunities.
- Support sales with research and analysis for PAC, including pricing, financial models, and competitive insights.
- Oversee all aspects of product development—specifications, packaging, pricing, and lifecycle planning.
- Establish metrics for new product performance and report results to the GM
- Monitor competitor activity and inform leadership of new products, technologies, and pricing strategies.
- Attend sales meetings, customer visits, and industry events; conduct product training as needed.
- Identify technology and market trends and update business strategy accordingly.
- Evaluate potential alliances and acquisition targets; develop supporting business cases.
- Collaborate with e‑Business, Retail, Distribution Sales, Lighting Agents, National Accounts, and international teams.
- Lead product launch strategy to ensure consistent messaging across samples, events, displays, and marketing materials.

- Manage departmental administration, reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
- Present regularly to senior management.
- Maintain professional relationships with customers, vendors, and industry partners.
- Provide leadership to ensure customer satisfaction and achievement of goals.
- Support development of departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain strong understanding of competitive landscape and industry trends.
- Evaluate new technical developments and recommend actions.
- Encourage innovation and employee development.
- Oversee product specification, positioning, pricing, improvements, inventory, and phase‑out plans.
Qualifications
- Strong creativity, resourcefulness, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field (Master’s preferred).
- 10–15 years of Product Management and/or Marketing experience.
- Strong background in architectural lighting and industry channels.
- Proven success managing product portfolios and leading cross‑functional teams.
- Creative, analytical, and highly organized.
- Experience with agents, distributors, national accounts, contractors, and specifiers.
- Leadership skills that foster collaboration and team success.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
