Aither Global Holdings Expands Vision for Immersive Lighting at LEDucation 2026

Aether Global Holdings Expands

At LEDucation 2026, I spoke with Bill Sims, CEO of Aither Global Holdings, about the company’s evolution, recent acquisition activity, and outlook for immersive lighting. The discussion also included insights into Cooledge Lighting and Nanometer Lighting.

A Dual-Channel Approach to the Market

Sims explained that Cooledge Lighting operates with two primary business models: an architectural specification channel supported by lighting agents and a direct-to-customer key account strategy.

The focus spans high-impact retail environments such as automotive dealerships, luxury fashion, and cosmetics, where lighting is used to elevate the customer experience and encourage longer engagement.

From LED Supplier to Immersive Lighting Design

Founded in 2009, Cooledge Lighting originally began as an LED device company. In 2016, it shifted its focus toward immersive lighting experiences.

Today, Sims describes lighting as part of the built environment rather than a standalone feature. The company now designs illuminated architectural elements—such as full-scale ceiling systems—that transform retail spaces into experiential environments.

He noted that some installations now exceed 150 feet of continuous illuminated ceiling, particularly in premium automotive retail spaces that continue to push design boundaries.

Expanding Capabilities Through Acquisition

A major development discussed was Aither’s acquisition of Nanometer Lighting. Sims described it as a highly complementary addition to the portfolio.

Nanometer brings strengths in low-profile illumination and advanced control systems, along with a more complex, node-based approach to lighting integration. Combined with Cooledge Lighting, it expands Aither’s ability to deliver more flexible and technically advanced solutions.

Building Aither Global Holdings

To support its multi-brand structure, the company formed Aither Global Holdings as a parent organization. Sims emphasized that each brand will continue to operate independently, with no plans to merge product lines.

The goal, he said, is to ensure customers can access a full range of immersive lighting solutions—no matter how complex the application.

Growth Outlook and Industry Momentum

Looking ahead, Sims said the company is exploring additional acquisitions, particularly in lighting controls, though the current portfolio is well positioned.

He also pointed to improving market conditions after a challenging period for the industry, noting a positive shift in demand beginning in late 2025 and continuing into 2026.

At LEDucation 2026, he described strong attendance and focused conversations as a sign of renewed momentum across the sector.

Closing Thoughts

Sims emphasized that Aither’s long-term strategy centers on immersive lighting, architectural integration, and expanding what is possible through design and technology.
