West Coast Market Manager with Inter-Lux

The Inter-lux Market Manager is a driven, relationship-focused sales leader with deep experience in the architectural lighting and specification community. This role is responsible for expanding Inter-lux’s presence across the West Coast by developing demand, strengthening agency performance, and building meaningful relationships with lighting designers, architects, engineers, distributors, and contractors.

The Market Manager (MM) represents Inter-lux and its portfolio of global brands in the assigned region. This role supports independent sales representatives, collaborates with internal teams, and drives profitable growth through strategic specification work. The MM reports directly to the Vice President of Sales.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership & Market Development

  • Develop and execute regional sales strategies aligned with company growth goals
  • Increase market penetration through specification work and strategic product focus
  • Manage and support independent rep agencies to ensure alignment and performance
  • Maintain strong call frequency with lighting designers, architects, engineers, and key specifiers
  • Prospect and cultivate new opportunities, directing qualified leads to rep partners

Agency Management & Channel Support

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Inter-lux and its rep agencies
  • Evaluate agency performance and support improvement plans
  • Conduct joint sales calls, product positioning, and closing of high-value opportunities
  • Support distributors and contractors to ensure successful pull-through

Customer Engagement & Brand Representation

  • Represent Inter-lux professionally and reinforce our design-driven brand
  • Deliver product presentations, technical support, and field services as needed
  • Attend regional trade shows, agency events, and industry functions

Sales Operations & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate forecasting and pipeline management
  • Update opportunity data regularly and provide timely reporting
  • Achieve or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with marketing, customer service, engineering, and operations
  • Provide post sales feedback to improve service and product performance
  • Support new product launches and marketing initiatives

Product & Market Expertise

  • Become a subject-matter expert on Inter-lux products and systems
  • Train Rep Agencies and customers on product capabilities
  • Stay informed on competitive products and market trends

Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years of experience in commercial/architectural lighting or related specification-driven industries
  • Must live in the Los Angeles metro area
  • Strong relationships within the West Coast lighting design and architectural community
  • Proven success driving specifications and managing rep agencies
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to travel regionally as required
