Transformation Awards Open

Have a Great Retrofit? Enter the 2026 Lighting Transformation Awards

Think your lighting retrofit project deserves some recognition? Now’s your chance.

The National Lighting Bureau (NLB), in partnership with NALMCO, has opened entries for the third annual Lighting Transformation Awards. The program recognizes outstanding lighting retrofit projects that improve existing spaces with minimal changes to the building structure.

The awards celebrate projects that demonstrate the power of lighting and controls to enhance visual performance, occupant wellness, energy efficiency, safety, sustainability, and overall user experience. This year’s competition also includes a Special Citation for Exemplary Controls Design and Implementation, sponsored by the Lighting Controls Association.

Projects completed during 2024, 2025, or 2026 are eligible. The early-bird deadline is August 14 ($50 entry fee), with the final submission deadline on August 28 ($100 entry fee). Winners will be recognized at the NALMCO Annual Convention & Trade Show in Phoenix, October 11–13.

Judges will evaluate lighting quality, energy performance, sustainability, adaptability, and the overall effectiveness of the retrofit. Bonus points may be awarded for projects that overcame unique challenges or delivered meaningful community impact.
