Here are the stories making news, coming to you from Birmingham, Alabama.

Congratulations to our good friend Mark Lear, the new president of US LED — the only full-service lighting manufacturer of commercial, industrial, and sign lighting solutions. Mark, we knew you’d be back. Congratulations.

I interviewed Rick Rosser, the CEO of Phoenix Lighting, about their acquisition of Rig-A-Lite and the licensing agreement with BetaLED to license some of the Cree Lighting products. It was a fascinating discussion — you can read it on EdisonReport.com.

Our good friend Leela Shanker emailed us yesterday announcing that five EPDs have been settled — linears, downlights, cylinders, troffers, and post tops. All five luminaire types have been third-party verified. She will be hosting a webinar on 6 October to discuss, and there will be an IALD Town Hall in the coming months. This is a really big deal.

The SDA Showcase will be held in New York City next week on Tuesday, 6 October. It is invitation only and it should be a great show.

The Guardian published an article about light pollution, quoting studies that show the night sky is getting 10% brighter each year. For those that can still see the stars, the author talks about a new form of light pollution — one caused by satellites. We link to that story on EdisonReport.com.

Yesterday the markets were mixed. Signify gained 1%.
