Please join our panel, Lisa Passamonte Green, Chip Israel, and Archit Jain on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020 6pm – 7:30pm, for a discussion on what happens with a specification after it has been written. Chip, Archit, and Lisa will discuss their processes after a project goes to bid and how they work with their clients to ensure the end result matches the plans. They will speak about their experiences during the purchasing process and how they have seen things change during their careers. The end of the session will include time for questions and answers as well as some further discussion.
Lisa Passamonte Green, Principal Lighting Designer, Visual Terrain
Lisa Passamonte Green is CEO and Principal-in-Charge of Visual Terrain, celebrating over 25 years of lighting design for architecture, attractions and the arts. Born and raised in San Diego, California, Lisa attended San Diego State University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Drama with an emphasis in design for television and film. In 1990, Walt Disney Imagineering lured Lisa to the Los Angeles area, where she launched her career creating lighting for themed environments and attractions. Lisa founded Passamonte Lighting Design in 1995, and incorporated in 1997. In 2001, she merged her firm with Moody Ravitz Hollingsworth Lighting Design, Inc. to become what is now Visual Terrain, Inc. In 2019, the Themed Entertainment Association recognized Lisa as a TEA Master of her craft. Recognized as a leading international lighting designer, Lisa has over 31 years of experience, with projects on six continents.
Chip Israel, CEO & Founder at Lighting Design Alliance
Chip Israel is an internationally recognized lighting designer with 27 years of experience. In 1992, he founded LIGHTING DESIGN ALLIANCE, a full-service architectural lighting design firm, where he built a highly-select team of lighting-design professionals who now serve a variety of clients worldwide. As President, Chip works closely with the owner, the design team, and manufacturers to ensure lighting systems are fully integrated with the architectural design and enhance the designer’s concepts.
His list of credentials includes being elected as a Fellow in both the IALD, the International Association of Lighting Designers, and IESNA, Illuminating Engineering Society of North America. He has received the Pennsylvania State University College of Engineering highest award, the Outstanding Engineering Alumnus Award and Martin’s Professional Lighting Designer of the Year. Chip is Past President of the IESNA and is the Past President of the IALD Education Trust and the Designer Lighting Forum. He has lectured at a dozen universities and spoken in 9 countries with a number of speaking engagements each year. LIGHTING DESIGN ALLIANCE has also been recognized by winning numerous National and International Design Awards, including multiple awards for sustainable lighting design.
Archit Jain, Principal at Oculus Light Studio
With a bachelor’s degree in architecture and a master’s in building science, Archit’s training combines both aesthetics and technology which together create award-winning projects. After working for other lighting design firms for 14 years, Archit co-founded Oculus Light Studio with Scott Hatton. Archit’s projects have ranged from large scale commercial and mixed use projects to smaller scale residential and retail stores. In addition to the United States, where he is based, he has worked extensively on projects around the globe, including those in Middle East, Europe, South East Asia, the Caribbean, China and India. At Oculus, Archit is responsible for maintaining client-relationships, setting design direction and overseeing resources to deliver a successful, cost-effective and on-schedule project.
