Wednesday was another very strong day at Light + Building.
Jim Terry, CEO OV20 Systems, said that the show is much better attended than anticipated, typical of the many comments we heard. But so far, he hasn’t seen any product that has truly excited him. He did see an interesting hand-shaped light fixture in the outdoor lighting pavilion which he thought was unique, but it has absolutely nothing to do with street lighting.
Unlike Jim, Giulio Pedota of Schuler Shook saw several products he liked. He especially admired the SKIN line from Linea Light, a modular three or five-cell light fixture that makes it easier to create straight, curved or undulating series while maintaining continuity of light through different combinations.

Artemide was a huge hit with many people we talked to. The can’t-miss booth glowed in red and white with the Dots and Lines display generating significant interest.
HEAVN also came highly praised. This award-winning German company offered an impressive array of human centric luminaires which they claim to be as effective as sunlight with 10,000 lux. Good looking + higher productivity—what’s not to like.
Gary Trott from Acuity Brands loved the wooden luminaires from SECTO Design in Hall 3.1. SECTO is a Scandinavian company whose products are hand-made in Finland. Gary saw a lot of companies experimenting with wood and other natural materials.
It’s interesting to note that Halls 3.0, 3.1, 4.0 and 4.1 are completely dark. The major light comes from the booths which allows the exhibitors to easily display their lighting without being washed out.
Tomorrow is the last day of the show—it can only get better from here.
