UK’s ILP Releases Guidance to Limit Impact of Lighting at Night on Bats

The Institution of Lighting Professionals has announced the release of Guidance Note GN08 Bats and Artificial Lighting at Night, with updates on LED technology and control, and a mitigation hierarchy for applying lighting where bats could be or are present.  Developed in conjunction with the Bat Conservation Trust, the updated Guidance Note features a series of case studies, and is intended to raise awareness of impacts of human-made light at night on bats, as well as strategies to avoid and reduce harm to bats.
