EdisonReport has learned that Legrand’s President & CEO for North America, John Selldorff is retiring this month. He will be replaced by Brian DiBella. DiBella is the President, Data Power and Control Division.
Selldorff has been at the helm of Legrand North America as President and CEO since 2002, steering the company to significant growth. We went back in the archives and found a few relatively recent lighting acquisitions under Selldorff’s leadership:
- FEB 2020: Legrand Aquires Focal Point
- DEC 2018: Legrand Acquires Kenall
- APR 2017: Legrand Continues Acquisition Spree; Acquires Finelite
- APR 2016: Legrand Announces Plans to Acquire Pinnacle
Your humble editor interviewed Selldorff immediately after the Focal Point acquisition and he told me that Focal Point fit their strategy, stating, “Buying an innovative company is much more important than buying a larger company.”
In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Selldorff actively contributes to the broader industry and economic discourse. He has served on the Executive Committee for the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) as and Past Chairman and is a member of the Council on Competitiveness.
One of the unique characteristics of Legrand is that Selldorff has always allowed the companies to remain independent. They may share a space at LightFair, but for the most part, they operate autonomously.
