Your impact on the team
We are looking for a talented Solutions Engineer to join our top performing sales team. Drawing on your architectural, engineering or lighting designer background, you will partner with our sales team and collaborate with customers to understand their vision to deliver a solution using the company’s portfolio of award-winning products.
Reporting to the VP of Sales, you will play an integral part in promoting Cooledge lighting solutions to Architects, Interior Designers, Lighting Consultants, as well as contractors, distributors, and end users.
Your passion for lighting, design and problem solving can help the market unlock the full potential of Cooledge.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Support the Sales team as the go-to person for answering technical questions, addressing concerns about potential technical blockers, and giving customers the confidence they need to move forward with the proposed solution.
- Strategize with the sales team to prepare personalized solutions for customers.
- Manage and respond to customer requests for technical information, product concepts, prototypes, and mockups involving non-standard products or non-standard applications of existing products.
- Serve as the technical expert on discovery and sales calls. Answer questions on capabilities and tackle objections related to technical blockers.
- Work with internal teams to determine the feasibility of customer requests including technical, manufacturing, and cost estimation.
- Support Sales and Product Management by investigating technical details, including certification changes or modifications and providing cost estimates.
- Act as the project manager for custom projects to ensure any products delivered have been properly tested and documented in accordance with Cooledge quality requirements.
- Provide project updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Relay current customer needs and pain points to product teams.
- Resolve technical issues for existing customers with the goal of increasing retention and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in the lighting industry or in architectural products company in a technical, application engineering, sales operational or consultative selling and sales agent relationship position.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Lighting Design or equivalent experience
- Proven record of building long-term mutually beneficial relationships with agencies, specifiers, and end users in national organizations
- A self-starter who can manage complex priorities simultaneously within demanding timelines.
- Strong business acumen including proven analytical, negotiation, financial, communication program and project management, and presentation skills.
- Experience with CRM, forecasting, and project management systems
- Ability to read lighting layouts, lighting manufacturing engineering drawings, and schematics
- Experience with photometry and lighting calculations an asset
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office tools especially Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word
- Driven by high degree of integrity with cultural and core value alignment to Cooledge
