The fundamental fact is that neither NEEP nor the DLC is chartered or recognized by the solid-state lighting industry, or any other governmental organization in the United States as an authoritative source of information. It performs no independent product testing, is not a national-recognized testing laboratory, and is not empowered to establish any standards on behalf of the solid-state lighting industry or the consumer. It is simply a privately-held 501(c) advocacy group representing its member’s interests.
