Ra and R9: >90+, Color Consistency Within One Mac Adam Ellipse and Calculated L70 Life Utilizing TM-24 of >87,000 hours
(San Francisco, CA – May 4, 2015) Lumenetix, Inc., announced today that the CTM 032 series of Color Tuning Modules with a tuning range of 1650 – 4000K completed the IESNA LM84-14 test at TUV SUD laboratories.
LM84 tests were originally designed to test LED luminaires with fixed Correlated Color Temperature (CCT). Since Color Tuning Modules offer a range of CCTs that consume different levels of power, Lumenetix worked with TUV to modify the LM84 methodology with committee approval to enable Color Tuning Module level data to be reported at multiple CCTs. Following the completion of the 6,000 hours of testing for ten (10) Color Tuning Modules, TM-24 standards were utilized to calculate the L70 life of luminaires. LM 84 guidelines require that L70 life data is reported at a maximum of “greater than 6 times” the tested hours. Lumenetix believes that this is the first Color Tuning Module to complete LM84.
TUV, per the standards methodology, reported L70 life data at >36,000 hours. Results show that the calculated L70 life ranged from 87,000 hours at maximum power consumption to 125,000 hours utilizing the industry standard TM28 projection method. An 87,000 hour life is equivalent to a 30 year life at 8 hours per day, a 20 year life at 12 hours per day and a 10 year life at 24 hours per day.
The Color Rendering Indices of Ra and R9 were 90+ throughout the tuning range. The color point remained within a 1 step Mac Adam ellipse during the entire 6,000 hour test, further validating the proprietary closed loop thermal and optical color consistency controls deployed in the Lumenetix Color Tuning Modules.
