Jack Zukerman, R.I.P.

EdisonReport is sad to report that Jack Zukerman has passed away.  Jack was a large presence in our industry, having founded RSA in 1995 and selling it to Cooper Lighting in 2004.   In 2013, he became the CEO of LF Illumination.

In 2019, Dreams, a luxury lifestyle magazine, featured Jack on its cover and you can read the story here.  In July of 2017, the same magazine featured him in their list of Ultra Affluent & Influential Los Angeles Power Males, along with such notables as Elon Musk.

Jack Zukerman received an EdisonReport Lifetime Achievement Award at LightFair in San Diego in 2016. You can watch his acceptance speech below.

In 2011, Jack published, “Let There Be Light: My Life Among Giants, Monarchs & Mobsters in the World of Architectural Lighting.”

Jack was also a long time source to the EdisonReport.

Below are Facebook comments from his daughter, Marti Artsis Skjervem, who approved our publishing her comments:

I am heartbroken to share that tonight my dad, Jack Zukerman, passed away. I loved him so much, and the hole I feel in my heart by his absence will never be filled. He adored his children and grandchildren and was an icon to many in the world of lighting. He was imperfect, like many of us, but his fierce loyalty to his friends and family was unparalleled. Thank you to all of you who touched his life in some way. There will never be another like my dad.   His favorite quote, by Rudyard Kipling:
“They copied all they could copy,
But they couldn’t copy my mind;
And I left them sweating and stealing,
A year and a half behind.”
