LRC Welcomes New Members to the Light and Health Alliance

The Lighting Research Center (LRC) at Rensselaer today announced that Axis Lighting and Armstrong Ceiling & Wall Solutions have joined the Light and Health Alliance — a growing coalition of industry leaders and scientists working together to create healthy spaces in which to live and work.

Led by LRC Director Dr. Mariana Figueiro, the mission of the Light and Health Alliance is to bridge the science of light and health to practical applications, and to provide objective information grounded in basic and applied research. The Alliance works to generate and disseminate new knowledge on the topic of light and health via outreach and education, including talks at conferences, seminars, publications and demonstrations.

Axis Lighting and Armstrong Ceiling & Wall Solutions join Light and Health Alliance members: Acuity Brands; Cree; Current, powered by GE; Ketra; OSRAM; and USAI Lighting.

“We look forward to collaborating with the Lighting Research Center on relevant research that will advance the practice of lighting for health and wellbeing — in healthcare, the workplace, and beyond,” said Howard Yaphe, Chief Executive Officer, Axis Lighting.

“Armstrong World Industries is pleased to be a new member of the Light and Health Alliance at the Lighting Research Center. The interaction of lighting and building surfaces like walls and ceilings holds great potential to affect wellness, comfort, and productivity in the built environment. Consortiums like the LRC’s Light and Health Alliance are great places for academia and industry to explore future possibilities,” said Steven Wilkinson, Director of Innovation, Armstrong World Industries.
