McWong Wins 2021 Sapphire Awards in “Smart and Connected SSL Enabling Technologies” and Inaugural “Design Excellence”

SACRAMENTO, CA — McWong International Inc. (McWong), a leading innovator in Bluetooth® mesh technology, has received two coveted Sapphire Awards, one for the product category of “Smart and Connected SSL Enabling Technologies” for its TruBlu™ interoperable Bluetooth-Zhaga-DALI controls; and another for the inaugural “Design Excellence in Networked Lighting Controls,” in partnership with Energy Management Collaborative (EMC) and Silvair. The latter award, created in partnership with representatives of the Lighting Controls Association (LCA), focused on project submissions for innovative use of networked lighting controls (NLC). Both awards were announced during the Strategies in Light conference on August 24, 2021.

“We’re delighted and honored to receive these awards. Much credit goes to our entire team for its hard work and dedication, especially during this unprecedented pandemic time. We’re excited about the direction of the marketplace in seeking out highly interoperable and scalable solutions to meet customers’ needs today and well into the future,” said McWong’s President/CEO, Margaret Wong.

Launched in 2014 by LEDs Magazine, the Sapphire Awards program has honored innovators and product developments that have advanced LED-centric SSL components, systems, and applications into the mainstream, and have promoted performance and capabilities beyond traditional light sources.

Sapphire Award for TruBlu Interoperable Bluetooth-Zhaga-DALI controls

Awarded in the Smart and Connected SSL Enabling Technologies category, the DLC-certified TruBlu Bluetooth-Zhaga-DALI controls deliver unprecedented interoperability. Featuring compliance with D4i specifications and Zhaga Book 20, the devices enable advanced intra-luminaire integration for highly flexible communication capabilities. Building on McWong’s software-driven, SIG-qualified TruBlu Bluetooth mesh platform, the controls combine advanced interoperability with advanced control capabilities via smartphone app, including daylight harvesting, high-end trim, zoning, continuous dimming, scheduled or occupancy based ON/OFF control, color tuning, and energy monitoring.

Sapphire Award for Minnesota Class A Office Building Project

This year marked the first time, projects were identified for design excellence. In partnership with representatives of the Lighting Control Association, Sapphire Awards team members evaluated project submissions for innovative use of networked lighting controls (NLC). With 17 stories and nearly a half million square feet of commercial real estate space, this project demonstrated the flexibility and scalability of SIG Bluetooth mesh technology and highlights the inevitable transition to an open interoperable standard as the future for networked lighting controls. McWong shares this award with its project partners EMC, the design contractor on the project, and Silvair.
