Product Manager — American Lighting

Job Description:
American Lighting is growing rapidly and is seeking a Product Manager who will help accelerate our growth in the residential and commercial lighting space. The Product Manager will work closely with product development, engineering, and supply chain leaders to bring to market innovative lighting products to a diverse audience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research to identify opportunities to optimize existing products and design new ones, including competitive and customer analysis, researching technological developments, and identifying trends and opportunities in the industry
  • Gather, collect, organize, and communicate Voice of Customer (VOC) for assigned product lines
  • Provide leadership and guidance, backed by data, on product priorities and strategic goals, such as product roadmaps for product lines and categories
  • Collaborate with product design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to execute projects while meeting cost, performance, and scheduling goals
  • Provide sales forecasts, competitive analysis, and other insights to guide product launch, pricing, and inventory management strategy
  • Effectively manage cost and price performance metrics to expand profitability of assigned product lines
  • Develop annual business plans & strategy execution on suppliers and products.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends to stay ahead of changes
  • Effectively communicate key product messaging both internally and externally
  • Conduct product evaluation and comparisons to identify alternates
  • Identify, manage, and communicate new product introductions
  • Engage cross-functionally with sales, sourcing, and engineering teams
  • Work with Inventory Management team to develop inventory models and replenishment strategies
  • Work with marketing to develop various marketing campaigns and collateral
  • Support sourcing team in BOM and specifications review to identify product and supplier options

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience in product management of residential and/or commercial products; having both creation and management levels of responsibilities; knowledge and experience in LED fixtures is preferred
  • Understanding of the product creation process, as well as related process tools and technologies
  • Thorough understanding of the Product Development Lifecycle
  • Proven ability to understand and interpret detailed engineering drawings and associated documents
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills, including business analysis, forecasting, and competitive analysis, as well as a proven ability to drive complex projects with minimal oversight
  • Exceptional communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Lighting industry background, LC credential, or other relevant industry certifications or registrations is a plus
