Senior Industrial Designer Opportunity
Key Responsibilities:
- Knowledgeable in the processes used to create parts for use in lighting fixture: Die Casting, Injection Molding, Compression Molding, Stamping and Sheet Metal Fab, Extruding, Elastomers, and Glass Molding and Fab.
- Ability to problem solve including determining what is known and unknown, where to find the unknowns, what monuments exist and what can be changed in order to come up with an optimum solution
- A complete understanding of the new product development process from concept to delivery into manufacturing.
Qualifications:
- BSME or Industrial Design degree with 10-15 years experience in New Product Design.
- Strong mechanical skills with the ability to use hand and machine tools to prototype.
- Proficient in the use of SolidWorks 2016 or later version.
- Ability to visualize, solid model, and design in 3D
- Ability to generate part prints, assembly drawings, and BOM’s
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- Knowledge of how to seal an assembly against water entry.
- Knowledge of heat transfer and how to remove heat from a system.
- Knowledge of LED’s and pairing them with appropriate drivers a plus.
- Knowledge of optical design and understanding photometrics and photometric reports a plus.
- Knowledge of tool design a plus, specifically die-cast tooling.
- Knowledge of UL 1598 a plus.
- Proficient in the use of Photopia a plus.
- A proven track record of designing and delivering new products to a commercial industry.
- Ability to work well with others as a team
