Specification Sales Manager – South US Region

The Specification Sales Manager actively promotes Cree Lighting products and intelligent controls to the lighting specification community, building relationships and raising the brand awareness of Cree Lighting in the territory. With these activities, the Specification Sales Manager will enable the company’s sales strategy to achieve sales and profitability goals.  This role will collaborate closely with other members of the Cree Lighting sales team, marketing, product development and other areas of the company, providing field input and feedback.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively promote Cree Lighting products and intelligent controls, generating specifications through strong relationships with the lighting design and specification community (including lighting designers, architects, consulting engineers, and other influencers within the territory.)
  • Work closely with agent partners within the territory on specification strategy, communicating plans and activities on an ongoing basis
  • Actively participate in the lighting community (both national and local) through organizations such as IES, IALD and DLF
  • Provide support to the regional team as subject matter experts on lighting and controls
  • Drive revenue in partnership with both the internal and external sales teams
  • Responsible for inputting and routinely updating specifications in Salesforce.com
  • Understand dynamics of key influencers in the assigned market and adjust sales plan and approach accordingly
  • Provide field input from the lighting design and specification community back to product marketing, product development and R&D

Qualifications:

  • Outside Sales experience, working with the lighting specification community, agents and end users
  • College degree or equivalent industry work experience required
  • Ability to travel, up to 75% of the time to meet with lighting specifiers and clients; majority of time to be spent in major markets, particularly local major market
  • Computer skills – Outlook, Excel, Internet Research, PowerPoint, Salesforce.com

Highly preferred skills and certifications:

  • LC (NCQLP) Certification
  • MBA a plus
  • 3+ years of experience in the Lighting Industry
  • Strong communication skills
  • Self-starter with experience working as a remote team member
