Regional Sales Manager, Lighting Division

Ballantyne Strong Inc. is a provider of digital cinema projection equipment and services, network monitoring services, as well as cinema screens, specialty lighting equipment and services. The Company supplies multi-national cinemas as well as independent theater chains, arenas, theme parks and architectural sites around the world.

Strong Lighting is a division of Ballantyne Strong, which has been involved in prestigious theatre/entertainment venues and landmark architectural projects, and is currently working on the 288,000 lumen beacon that will crown the World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan.

Strong Lighting is seeking a lighting sales professional to take our specification grade theatrical/event lighting and LED façade lighting to market.  The Regional Sales Manager will be responsible for attaining field sales through factory representatives. The incumbent will work with representatives to sell Strong products to specifiers and end users. Training, exhibition planning and event participation will be part of the responsibilities.  The regional manager will utilize all these avenues to meet established sales goals. 

As a product and market expert, this individual is expected to provide excellence in the sales and delivery of products, services and solutions relevant to the industries we serve. This role will require a solid understanding of product features and customer operational needs, with an interest in customer trends and future requirements of the markets Ballantyne Strong serves. The regional manager will also influence company direction by direct involvement in marketing and product management. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for agent management, including onboarding and offboarding of contractual representatives, motivating and maintaining a positive relationship with these agents to focus more business on Strong product lines.
  • Negotiating with domestic and global vendors.
  • During the pre-sales discovery and design phases and throughout client contract negotiations, document and diagram requirements for solutions to ensure a smooth transfer/hand-off to post-sales implementation Project Manager, minimizing time-to-revenue during implementation.
  • Perform market, customer and competitive research to differentiate Ballantyne Strong’s products and services and to anticipate competitive response.
  • Actively engage to support Ballantyne Strong colleagues in group selling opportunities.
  • Maintain a high level of industry expertise and product technical knowledge necessary to determine customer needs, design supporting solutions, and position and present to client.
  • Influence product development.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make business decisions that impact the sales process, the customer and Ballantyne Strong.

Candidate Requirements:

  • 4-year college degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in lighting sales and management of lighting representatives specific to theatrical and/or architectural accent lighting and controls.
  • Strong consultative and strategic sales skill sets.
  • Ability to sell and close business deals, with a record of goal attainment and over-achievement in consultative sales or management consulting.
  • Demonstrated ability to obtain an audience with, present to, and sell to C-level executives.
  • Capacity for understanding and developing sales and business strategy.
  • Possess a proactive approach to work, the capability to work with individuals at all levels, and proven ability to deliver revenue generation results.
  • Must possess excellent presentation skills, interpersonal and customer relationship skills.
  • Strong ability to articulate Ballantyne Strong products/solutions to clients, as well as client project requirements to Ballantyne Strong technical staff.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
