DETROIT — DETROIT (AP) – A private business group has stepped up with $6.4 million to do what struggling Detroit couldn’t – restore working street lights along a 2.3 mile thoroughfare on the city’s southwest side.
The Detroit News (https://bit.ly/13yuCMq ) reports that the Southwest Detroit Business Association s Detroit began the effort five years ago after learning that Detroit officials weren’t planning for the street light work on West Vernor Highway in their own five-year plan.
