Manufacturing Engineer–Litelab

Litelab Corp, a world class manufacturer of architectural lighting equipment is looking for a talented, motivated and experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our Buffalo, NY based manufacturing team.  The primary role for this key position is to serve as a single point of contact for all technical issues related to manufacturing, fabrication and assembly of all Litelab products.  The candidate will be expected to effectively manage and influence product design and manufacturing processes and ensure that manufacturability, repeatability, process control, quality and cost goals are considered and met at every stage.   This key player of our team will be responsible for the development of processes, tools and documentation supporting several production facilities.   This position also includes activities supporting continuous process improvement, product cost reduction and manufacturing time reduction.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product engineering, materials, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality control standards.
  • Determine parts and tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications.
  • Design lean manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, parts processing, machining, fabrication and material handling.
  • Design and setup new manufacturing lines or cells using lean principles such as 5S, Kanban, SMED, 6 Sigma, VSM

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical or Industrial Engineering with 5-10 of relevant experience in the area of manufacturing of electrical components,  or electronic equipment. A proven track record of hands-on experience in a metal manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing methods and equipment, tooling, assembly processes, fabrication and quality inspection procedures are all essential.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and able to communicate with all levels of the organization.

Computer skills:

  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Good working knowledge of CAD, Solidworks, Pro-E
  • Familiarity with ERP software and methodologies
