No Need to Visit Simkar While at LIGHTFAIR

Several sources have told EdisonReport that Philadelphia-based Simkar closed their doors at noon today.  EdisonReport first published that Simkar filed for bankruptcy protection on 8 MARCH.

We are told  by a former employee that David Bellenzeni and David Coyne called a staff meeting at 9 am and read a termination letter from Sandeep Gupta, the court appointed trustee.  Another source claims that office staff are owed about seven weeks of pay and factory  staff is owed more.

As of this writing both the website and automated-attendant phones are still working. EdisonReport has tried several times to reach the company with no success.

Below is the text from the letter that was forwarded by a former employee:

May 10, 2019

To All,

This letter is to inform you that your employment with Simkar LLC will terminate effective Friday, May 10, 2019. We thank you for your service and wish you well in your search for alternate employment.

It is understood that you are likely owed wages by the Company. We are attempting to find a solution in order to be able to pay you some part of your unpaid wages. While we cannot guarantee anything, we appreciate your patience in giving us the time to attempt to do this.

Signed,

Sandeep Gupta
