As reported earlier this year, the Henrik Villumsen Lawfirm has maintained its impressive growth trajectory in 2024. Henrik Villumsen recently confirmed that this growth shows no signs of slowing and North America continues to lead the way with multiple client consultations in September.
A key factor contributing to this sustained growth is the firm’s long-standing expertise in guiding clients through the complexities of Signify’s “Enabled” LED patents. With a client portfolio now exceeding 400, for some of whom Henrik Villumsen Lawfirm operates discreetly, the firm has played a crucial role in negotiating and renegotiating license agreements, addressing audit matters, and handling Qualified Components issues. The lawfirm is also still involved in litigation and other contentious matters, including in the US.
Villumsen highlighted Signify’s continued activity in patent filings, with 770 new applications submitted to the European Patent Organisation in 2023 alone. On average, Signify signs at least 100 new licensees per year, with now 1600, further driving the demand for legal services in this area.
In response to the growing demand, the Henrik Villumsen Lawfirm is expanding its services to include additional intellectual property offerings, including representation at the EU Unified Patent Court.
Moreover, Villumsen’s expertise as an arbitrator, particularly at the London Court of Arbitration where he has served since 2021, has led to an increase in requests for arbitration and mediation services.
After nearly two decades of dedicated service in the lighting industry, Henrik Villumsen is also considering taking on non-executive directorships within the sector and inviting investors into the lawfirm.
