Orion Energy Systems Names Sally Washlow CEO, Scott Green Promoted to COO

Orion Energy Systems, Inc.  has announced key leadership changes as part of its strategic plan to boost growth and profitability. In a press release dated 14 April, the Board of Directors appointed Sally A. Washlow as Chief Executive Officer. She succeeds Michael H. Jenkins, who is departing the company.

Leadership Restructuring Aims to Refocus Strategy

Alongside the CEO transition, the Board promoted Scott Green, EVP and President of Orion Services Group, to the role of Chief Operating Officer. In this position, Green will lead Orion’s sales and project management teams.

Board Chair Anthony Otten praised Jenkins’ contributions but emphasized the need for change. “We thank Mike for his leadership and many contributions to our company over the past two and a half years,” said Otten. “However, our Board believes new leadership is necessary to sharpen the company’s focus on revenue growth and cost containment. We’re confident Sally has the right skill set and public company experience to return Orion to profitability and strengthen the stock.”

A Proven Track Record of Business Transformation

Washlow joined Orion’s Board in 2022 and brings more than 25 years of leadership experience. She has a strong background in operational efficiency, business transformation, and marketing strategy.

Previously, she served as President of Cobra Electronics, a Nasdaq-listed company. She then became CEO of Cedar Electronics, leading the successful integration of the Cobra and Escort brands after the company transitioned to private equity ownership. During her tenure, Cedar exceeded $200 million in revenue.

Washlow is optimistic about the company’s path forward.  “There is more work to be done,” she said. “But I firmly believe Orion’s future is bright. We have strong positions in LED lighting, EV charging, and maintenance services. Our foundation is solid. Now we must focus on growing revenue, improving profitability, and becoming cash-flow positive.”

Scott Green Brings Deep Industry Experience

Green has nearly 30 years of experience in the lighting industry. He joined Orion in 2013 when the company acquired Harris Lighting, where he had held leadership positions.

As COO, he will oversee sales and project management—two core areas in Orion’s growth strategy.

Washlow’s Broader Career Highlights

Earlier in her career, Washlow held leadership roles at Motorola and LG Electronics. There, she gained experience in supply chain management, product development, and sales strategy.

Most recently, she served as a Practice Leader at LHH’s International Center for Executive Options, where she advised executives in transition. She currently serves on the boards of Data IO and Northbrook Bank & Trust, a subsidiary of Wintrust Financial.

Washlow holds a BA in Supply Chain Management from Michigan State University and an MBA in Marketing from DePaul University.

Financial Outlook Remains Steady

In addition to the leadership announcements, Orion reaffirmed its financial outlook. The company expects fiscal year 2025 revenue to fall near the midpoint of its previously issued guidance range of $77 million to $83 million, ending 31 March 2025.

These leadership changes reflect Orion’s renewed commitment to operational excellence and sustainable growth across its lighting, EV, and electrical service markets.
