Messe Frankfurt’s Constantin von Vieregge Looks to LightFair’s Future with Optimism
Constantin von Vieregge Addresses LightFair 2025 IALD LIRC Meeting
At LightFair 2025, Constantin von Vieregge, President and CEO of Messe Frankfurt North America, delivered an optimistic and candid address to the IALD LIRC Meeting attendees. He acknowledged that organizing this year’s show came with significant challenges, describing it as “a bit of an uphill battle,” especially over the past three months. Constantin emphasized that Messe Frankfurt remains fully committed to LightFair and views it as a long-term investment despite these difficulties.

Recognizing the Challenges in the Industry
He pointed out that the exhibition industry across the U.S. has been struggling for the past 3 months, but reminded the audience that trade shows operate in cycles. Messe Frankfurt, known for running major international events in Dubai, China, Turkey, and beyond, sees LightFair as a valuable addition to its global portfolio. For Constantin and his team, this is not about short-term wins but about building something strong and lasting over the next 30, 40, or even 50 years.
Elevating LightFair’s Quality
One of the key goals this year has been to raise the quality of LightFair and ensure it feels like an actual designer-focused event. Constantin told the audience he hoped they noticed a difference in the operations and the overall experience as they entered the show. With a touch of humor, he added, “If not, please don’t tell me.” His message underscored how intentional the team has been in enhancing the atmosphere, look, and feel of the show to better serve the lighting design community.
Commitment to Partnerships and Growth
He also emphasized Messe Frankfurt’s commitment to working closely with trusted partners, including the IES and IALD, to elevate LightFair further. This collaboration is a cornerstone of their strategy to ensure the show remains relevant and impactful for years to come.
Looking to the Future
Closing his remarks, Constantin thanked attendees warmly and shared his excitement for the future. “I hope you all have a good show, and I look forward to seeing you back in 2027, when things start to grow again and get even better.” His comments reflected both realism and hope: an acknowledgment of the current industry challenges combined with a confident belief in LightFair’s bright future.
