At NYControlled 2025, Randy Reid spoke with Shana Longo of Legrand about the Wattstopper i3 platform, a cloud-based smart building solution designed to unlock the valuable data inherent in lighting control systems. By leveraging sensors, room controllers, and AI, the system provides facility managers with detailed insights into building performance and energy usage.
Interoperability, Insights, and Intelligence
The i3 name represents the three core principles of the platform: interoperability, insights, and intelligence. Shana explained that the system integrates lighting data with other building systems, enabling managers to make smarter, data-driven decisions. The software provides deeper insights into system performance, schedules, and operational efficiency.
Flexible Installation and Legacy System Integration
Designed for both new and existing buildings, the Wattstopper i3 platform uses BACnet and cloud-based software to centralize data. Shana noted that it can integrate with legacy lighting systems, making it easier for facilities to upgrade portions of a building without replacing everything. Managers can access real-time reports, visualizations, and schedules directly from the platform.
Availability
The Wattstopper i3 platform was launched in April 2025 and is now available for facilities looking to enhance energy management and operational intelligence through a smart, flexible, and interoperable lighting solution.
