
Elite Lighting is seeking a Laboratory & Safety Engineer with experience in lighting to oversee laboratory quality, compliance, and safety standards.
The Laboratory and Safety Engineer is responsible for establishing and maintaining the policies of the Laboratory Quality System to ensure compliance to UL, ETL, Energy Star, and ISO/IEC Standards, UL’s Data Acceptance Program (DAP), and Intertek’s Satellite Program. Plans and monitors the work of the laboratory and its personnel to ensure compliance of good laboratory practice. Establishes, maintains, and implements control policies.
Responsibilities are included, but not limited to:
- Familiar with and know-how in applying for and updating UL, DLC, JA8, Energy Star, labels, packaging, and websites.
- Familiar with and know-how in applying for and updating UL files with new components and drivers.
- Review and revise, as needed, the Laboratory Quality Manual procedures and guidelines set forth by ISO/IEC 17025 Standards.
- Monitor and implement required regulations in line with UL and DLC standards.
- Plan, direct, and evaluate laboratory’s control policies to ensure compliance.
- Prepare written reports and interpretations of test results.
- Update photometry, BOMs, cutsheets, and websites.
- Evaluating products and samples and making sure products are added to Elite’s product line once testing is successfully concluded.
- Ensure competency of all laboratory personnel with established training program.
- Manage and oversee all laboratory personnel.
- The Authorized Signatory ensures that the tests were properly performed and conducted by qualified laboratory technicians. Reviews the data package to ensure compliance with DAP requirements.
- Product evaluation and testing.
- Schedule product tests and evaluate the results.
- Collaborate with other engineers within the company.
- Oversee the carried-out tasks and performed tests according to UL Standards.
- Design and communicate with International Purchasing to sort out details for labeling the products.
- Daily visits to production to ensure quality.
- Maintain and control all forms of documentation, equipment, materials, and samples relating to the laboratory.
- Continuously train assembly production, customer service, and purchasing departments as needed with new products and technical issues encountered.
Requirements:
- Preferred of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and two years of electrical engineering experience with a focus on power systems OR a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience working in objective-centered facility environment by participating in technical design, or miscellaneous supporting activities for electrical systems (LED).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
