As part of our aggressive growth strategy, Specialty is seeking an experienced Specification Sales Manager to expand our presence deeper within the NYC Market.

Description:

The Specification Sales Manager is responsible for overall relationship management of customers, and specification sales reps in the NYC territory, to meet sales goals, increase market share, and exceed customer expectations.  The goal of this position is to drive achievement of sales targets through stock and flow business within distribution, as well as identifying and driving closure to specified job business. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Development and execution of strategic plans to achieve sales targets in stock and flow distribution, as well as project business.
  • Manage and drive performance of external Sales Reps in specified territory.
  • Positive relationship management both internal and external, with the goal of building long term partnerships and increasing sales.

Objectives:

  • Perform sales calls on lighting designers, architects, engineers, and end users, as necessary
  • Execute company sales growth objectives by coordinated efforts with the outside independent sales rep force, while leveraging the assistance of the inside Business Development Team.  
  • Develop and implement monthly strategic plans for the achievement of sales targets within assigned territory.
  • Manage distribution Sales Reps in a specified region to develop new business and increase overall sales. This includes but is not limited to training and developing independent reps and customers, and ensuring reps dedicate sufficient time to the SLI product line with the overall goal of increasing sales.
  • Identify opportunities to increase stock and flow business within distribution.
  • Identifying and driving closure to specified job and project based business.
  • Identify any issues or problems in the territory, and collaborate with internal resources to resolve the issue and exceed the expectations of our customers in a timely manner.
  • Work with sales reps and internal sales team to drive the achievement of local territory and national promotion targets.
  • Develop creative and unique programs to achieve sales targets while maintaining profitability.
  • Drive and evaluate the performance of each independent sales representative group, with the goal of building strong partnerships.
  • Conduct in field market research and provide well thought out new product ideas including target market, necessary listings, suggested price points and anticipated sales forecast.  
  • Maintain existing accounts including working with internal departments to follow up on credit/collections issues and returns.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Lighting industry experience calling on and closing specifications with the design community preferred.  Experience in lighting design, architecture, and interior design
  • 2-4 years sales experience with proven track record of success managing independent sales force within the lighting industry.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent work related experience in a business related field.
  • Solid strategic planning and execution skills.
  • Self directed, ability to produce results independently.
  • Travel within assigned territory.
  • Proven ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
