Regional Sales Manager — Intelligent Lighting Controls

Intelligent Lighting Controls (ILC) is looking for an experienced Regional Sales Manager that will be the primary interface for our Central region rep agency network. The central region includes: IL, NV, UT, AZ, NM, CO, ID, MT, WY, ND, SD, MN, WI, OK, MO, KY, PA, MI – subject to change


The Regional Sales Manager position is responsible for increasing lighting controls sales business in an assigned geographic territory. The successful candidate will drive profitable sales growth through the development, and execution of regional sales plans. Work with manufacturers’ rep to close specifications in assigned territory. Develop relationships with external and internal customers so as to maximize communication from the field throughout the ILC organization.


  • Increase Intelligent Lighting Controls basis of design specifications.
  • Provide product presentations and build relationships with engineering firms, electrical contractors, electrical distributors, rep agencies and other accounts that directly influence buying decisions in your territory.
  • Provide account management (conflict resolution, customer relations, etc)
  • Develops sales objectives and execute sales plans for assigned accounts and territories.
  • Builds relationships with external and internal customers within the functions of purchasing, engineering manufacturing, product development, marketing, sales, and with the executive team.
  • Ensure agency representatives have appropriate training.
  • Attends local and national shows providing sales support and expertise with the ILC products.
  • Manage design and support requests from customers to appropriate internal teams to maintain the highest standard of customer support.
  • Performs other similar or related duties as required.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of outside sales experience with documented success growing a territory.
  • Lighting control experience required.
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels of a business unit.
  • Demonstrated ability to persuade and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, hire, and coach sales representatives to success.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills. Support all aspects of the ILC product line and services – technical and business interaction.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of the product, the geographic markets and channels we serve, as well as of the electrical and or lighting industries.
  • Must have solid business acumen and understanding of a variety of functional areas within the business.
  • Strong leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to supervise and manage others.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, development, and motivation to staff to achieve superior results and accomplish overall business objectives.
  • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team-based environment. Fosters open communication and supports an environment of innovation and creative change.
  • Excellent skills in project management, demonstrated ability to make timely and effective decisions, handle multiple priorities and effectively delegate responsibilities to ensure high quality service is delivered on time and within budget.
  • Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus, extract necessary information, and validate understanding of the information. Demonstrated ability to persuade and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Willingness to include consistent travel, sometimes with little notice. A minimum of two rep visits required per month.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Bluebeam and AutoCAD experience preferred but not required
  • Must reside in the Central region and have the ability to travel 25-35% of the time on a regular basis
