NEMRA Launches Lighting Division as it Integrates with AAILA to Strengthen Advocacy for Independent Agencies

The National Electrical Manufacturers Representatives Association (NEMRA) has announced a significant expansion with the launch of its new Lighting Division. This strategic move enhances support and advocacy for independent lighting sales agencies. By integrating the American Association of Independent Lighting Agencies (AAILA) into its framework, NEMRA is creating a stronger, unified force for the lighting industry.

Your humble editor spoke with co-founder Billy Hodges, who stated, “At the heart of AAILA are the independent lighting agencies. The formation of AAILA was driven by the need to advocate for this often-underrepresented segment of the industry. By joining forces with NEMRA, we gain access to enhanced resources and an expanded network, further strengthening our commitment to professional education and industry advocacy.”

Jim Johnson, President and CEO of NEMRA, highlighted the importance of this step. “This allows us to build upon AAILA’s goals within a larger framework, backed by NEMRA’s extensive infrastructure and resources,” he explained. “Together, we aim to enhance support for independent lighting agencies while advancing our shared objectives.”

This integration is more than a merger. It represents a collaborative effort to strengthen the role of independent lighting representatives. Billy Hodges, Co-Founder of AAILA, expressed his optimism about the partnership. “NEMRA’s proven capabilities will allow us to elevate the voice of independent lighting representatives,” he said. “This partnership presents an exciting opportunity to strengthen relationships with suppliers, manufacturer representatives, and customers.”

Focused Support for the Lighting Industry

As a dedicated division within NEMRA, the Lighting Division will address specific challenges faced by lighting agencies. By leveraging NEMRA’s infrastructure, the division can provide tailored resources and targeted advocacy. Johnson added, “This integration offers a unique opportunity to enhance resources and advocacy for independent representatives. We encourage independent lighting agencies and manufacturer partners to join us in shaping the future of lighting sales.”

A Legacy of Advocacy and Growth

Since its founding in 1969, NEMRA has championed the value of independent sales representatives in the electrical industry. This integration reflects a shared mission to elevate the role of independent agencies while fostering collaboration across the industry.

Billy Hodges and Jay Andrews, co-founders of AAILA, played a key role in building a strong foundation for independent lighting agencies. Their efforts have led to this significant milestone. By incorporating AAILA’s work into NEMRA, the new Lighting Division can expand its impact and provide independent representatives with the necessary tools to succeed.

Moving Forward

NEMRA plans to unveil additional details about the Lighting Division in the coming weeks. This launch offers independent lighting agencies and manufacturer partners the chance to join a well-resourced organization committed to advancing the industry.

Creating the Lighting Division is a major step forward for both NEMRA and the lighting industry. With a clear vision and strong commitment, this new division is poised to drive innovation and advocacy for independent lighting agencies.
