WAP Sustainability, in partnership with the International Living Future Institute (ILFI), is hosting an Industry Roundtable on Wednesday, 3 June from 1:00–2:30 PM EST, bringing together lighting manufacturers and specifiers to help shape the future of chemical disclosure for lighting products.
The session will directly inform the development of Declare Health version 2.1, slated for public consultation in June 2026. Declare is a platform where manufacturers voluntarily disclose product information on easy-to-read labels that report all product ingredients — functioning essentially as a nutrition label for building products. WAP Sustainability is an approved ILFI third-party verifier for Declare labels and works with manufacturers on preparation and verification of their disclosures. Living Future Wapsustainability
The roundtable will cover chemical ingredient disclosure best practices, navigating chemicals of concern, and understanding the distinction between Red List Free and Red List Approved classifications. Red List Free means a product contains none of the chemicals on ILFI’s restricted substances list, signaling a safer choice for human health and the environment. Attendees will also discuss the Small Electrical Components exception — an important consideration for lighting products — and how to prepare for evolving market requirements. Issuu
That last point carries significant weight. LEED v5 has been officially ratified and is now available for project registration as of April 2025, and the new standard places increasing emphasis on third-party verification of Declare claims. Third-party verified Declare labels carry added weight under LEED credits, giving specifiers greater confidence in ingredient disclosures. Green Badger
For lighting manufacturers navigating a market where transparency expectations are rising rapidly, this roundtable is a timely opportunity to engage directly in the rule-making process. Input from participants will feed directly into the Lighting Sector Guidance accompanying Declare Health 2.1.
