Zumtobel Lighting GmbH, Dornbirn, and Impact Acoustic AG, Lucerne, are combining their expertise in acoustics, lighting, design, and system integration to create innovative solutions for interior spaces worldwide. By bringing these disciplines together, the two companies aim to enhance the functionality, aesthetics, and acoustic quality of indoor environments—ultimately improving well-being and quality of life in the spaces where people live and work. As part of the partnership agreed in August 2026, the companies offer integrated standard and special solutions as well as lighting and acoustics consulting from a single source for builders, architects, interior fitters and specifiers.
Zumtobel considers acoustic elements from the outset of its lighting design process, while Impact Acoustic integrates selected Zumtobel luminaires into its digital room-planning system. This is how attuned lighting and acoustic concepts are created that simplify project design and enable holistic room design.
“Impact Acoustic is an ideal partner for us because we share the same values in terms of sustainability, design and quality and set very high standards for our
products. By bundling our expertise, we can offer integrated solutions that meet two customer needs at the same time: firstly, the desire for first-class lighting conditions and secondly, the desire to create optimal acoustic room quality. In addition, we are able to provide optimal support for individual projects as part of our The Editionsprogramme,” says Raphael Petri, Vice President Brand Zumtobel.
The consistent focus on sustainability unites the two partners. Zumtobel develops new product according to strict Circular Design Rules (CDR). Since the beginning of March, the company has also been offering a Remanufacturing service that refurbishes existing lighting systems and provides them with a new factory warranty. Impact Acoustic, on the other hand, is considered a pioneer in circular acoustic solutions. The company combines high design standards with strategies for sustainable resource consumption and takes a holistic view of materials, products and their entire life cycles. The solutions are made from recycled and regenerative raw materials and are designed for durability, repairability and recycling. ARCHISONIC® Natura offer Impact Acoustic the world’s first cellulose-based acoustic material that enables a closed material cycle. The Re take-back programme enables suitable PET- and cellulose-based acoustic products to be recovered and returned to the material cycle at the end of their service life.
“We start at the product level – but the real potential lies in the system. The combination of light and acoustics, coupled with automated project design, is from our point of view the big change in interior design since the LED,” says Sven Erni, co-founder and managing director at Impact Acoustic.
Through an intensive exchange of know-how, a joint portfolio and close cooperation on special projects with architects and lighting designers, Zumtobel and Impact Acoustic will contribute to bringing rooms to life and setting new standards worldwide in the design of sophisticated working and living environments.
